Our Story

Welcome to Coffee Bay. In 1893, tonnes of coffee beans were lost off the coast, lending our area of coastline its unique name. Despite being 250 kilometres south of Durban, visiting Coffee Bay is an experience you cannot miss - the perfect place for surfing or fishing holidays.

Coffee Bay and Hole in the Wall, offer great locations for shore angling. Try your luck at catching the elusive kob by night, along with dorado, salmon and mussel cracker. Look for crayfish and mussels in the rock pools. Find a 'secret' surf spot with beautiful rolling rights and beach breaks.

We offer a self-catering option in our rooms, but you can choose one of our delicious meal options and take advantage of our free dinner on a Sunday night. We can arrange guided walks, tours and drives to Hole in the Wall or to experience local Xhosa traditions. We also can arrange beginner surfing lessons with wetsuits and board hire included for small groups.
